What does an EMDR session look like?

EMDR sessions can be different from other talking therapies. We can focus on a difficult memory or experience and use what is called bilateral stimulation to help process this experience. This can be through eye movements or through "tapping" and it can be face to face or online. With EMDR there can be less talking than with other therapies and it is more about the emotional and physical responses.

What will we cover in the first sessions?

The first session will be a brief discussion of the therapy agreement and us discussing what has brought you to therapy and how I can help with those issues. I will be gathering some history of the problem to help guide me in treatment. This will be at your pace if this at your pace if this is overwhelming for you. We can agree some goals for what you would like to change or be different.
